Dr. Keston Fulcher is a Professor of Graduate Psychology and Improvement Strategist at James Madison University (JMU). He specializes in integrating assessment with learning improvement, meta-assessment, and ethical reasoning programs. Fulcher holds a Ph.D. in Assessment & Measurement from JMU (2004), an Ed.S. in School Psychology from the University of Kansas (2000), and a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Virginia (1997).
His research emphasizes actionable assessment for institutional transformation, equity in outcomes, and scalable learning improvement strategies. He co-authored Learning Improvement at Scale: A How-To Guide for Higher Education and advises the National Institute for Learning Outcomes Assessment. As JMU’s Improvement Strategist, he coordinates professional development, consults with institutions, and leads the Learning Improvement Community.
Publications highlight themes like assessment frameworks, pandemic-era planning, and ethical reasoning curricula. Notable contributions include the James Madison University Model for Assessment Days and the Ethical Reasoning Identification Test (ERIT). His work bridges theory and practice to foster evidence-based educational reform.
