Kessie Alexandre is an Assistant Professor of Social and Cultural Analysis at New York University's College of Arts & Science. Her work focuses on the intersections of race, place, and environment, particularly in urban water insecurity contexts. She holds a PhD in Anthropology from Princeton University and a BA in Anthropology and Public Health from Johns Hopkins University.

Her research explores Black environmental organizing against urban water issues (flooding, contamination, pollution) in Newark, NJ, supported by grants from the Mellon Foundation, ACLS, Wenner-Gren, and others. Current projects address anti-blackness and environmental change in Caribbean climate vulnerability contexts.
Publications appear in journals like Geoforum, Current Anthropology, and Environmental History. She previously held roles as a postdoctoral fellow at Harvard University and an assistant professor at the University of Washington, Seattle.
