Kerstin Störl

PD Dr. phil.habil. Kerstin Störl is a Senior Lecturer in Romance Linguistics at the Humboldt University of Berlin, with a habilitation in Romance Philology. She previously held University Professorships at the University of Vienna (2018-2020) and acting/visiting professorships at Humboldt University Berlin, Ernst Moritz Arndt University of Greifswald, Technical University of Berlin, University of Rostock, and University of Paderborn.

Research Interests: Kerstin Störl specializes in Romance Philology, Linguistics, Translation Studies, Cognitive Linguistics, Ethnolinguistics, and Cultural/Communication Studies, with a focus on Latin America, endangered languages, and gender studies.

Academic Leadership: She has served as Head of the Department of Romance Linguistics at the Institute for Language and Communication (Technical University Berlin, 2004-2011), Head of the Institute for Romance Studies at the University of Vienna (2018-2019), and Secretary of the Humanities/Social Sciences Class at the Leibniz Society in Berlin. She co-edits three book series at Peter Lang International Academic Publishers, including Interactio: Language, Culture and Embodied Cognition.

Fieldwork & Excursions: Kerstin led a 2008 academic expedition to Cameroon, where students conducted field research on French language varieties, language contact with African languages, and cultural studies. The trip was disrupted by a political crisis, but participants adapted by interviewing local informants and deepening methodological approaches within safe environments.
