Kerstin Röhn serves as an Artistic Adjunct Lecturer in the Department of Music at the University of Kassel, specializing in saxophone instruction and directing the Woodwind Ensemble. Her career spans solo, ensemble, and orchestral performance across saxophone, flute, clarinet, and bass clarinet disciplines.
Her artistic practice centers on Music Performance and Woodwind Instruments, with expertise spanning jazz, world music, free improvisation, and classical traditions. Röhn actively develops Ensemble Direction methodologies through projects like Pocket Music (jazz/world music trio) and Solaris Saxophone Quartet, while pioneering Improvisation techniques in theatre collaborations such as Die Elefantenrunde (low-frequency saxophone quartet). Her work integrates Theatre Music composition for puppet theatre productions at venues like Staatstheater Kassel.
Röhn received the Kassel City Cultural Prize as lead alto saxophonist and later big band leader of Jazz-Orchester Truxa. Additional recognition includes critical acclaim for her crossover ensemble Lotte La Boom, described as having "high density, dynamic, and musical quality" (Hessisch-Niedersächsische Allgemeine, 2016).
As an educator, she conducts private saxophone lessons for all ages and leads weekly ensemble training focusing on sound techniques, scale exercises, and rhythmic development. Her instructional philosophy emphasizes "consistency, flexibility, and patience" through targeted practice modules. Röhn also coaches ensembles for peak performance in diverse settings from cultural festivals to theatre productions.
Current artistic collaborations include Saxophone & Organ performances with concert organist Mana Usui, Duo Röhn I Beyer for dinner music settings, and family concert programs blending musical education with interactive experiences. Her radio play productions extend her work into audio storytelling for diverse audiences.
