معرفی
Kerstin Müller is a postdoctoral researcher at the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg, working in the seed biology lab led by PD Dr. Gerhard Leubner. She is currently involved in the vSEED project, focusing on the biomechanics of seed germination in Lepidium sativum and Arabidopsis thaliana.
Education
- M.Sc. in Biology (Plant Physiology, Plant Ecology, Microbiology) from Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg (2004)
- M.A. in Scandinavian Studies and Historical Anthropology from Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg (2005)
Research Interests
Kerstin's research revolves around the role of reactive oxygen species (ROS) in seed germination. She investigates how hydroxyl radicals contribute to endosperm weakening via cell wall loosening and protein oxidation, as well as the interplay between plant hormones like ABA and GA. Her work bridges biochemistry, molecular biology, and biomechanics to understand germination at a systems level.
Publications Trends
Her publications span ROS signaling, endosperm biomechanics, and hormone-regulated germination. Key methods include proteomics, NMR imaging, and puncture-force measurements.
Scientific Awards
- Best student presentation at 9th ISSS conference (2008)
- Best student presentation at 8th International Workshop on Seeds (2005)
