معرفی
Kerry Walker is an Associate Professor of Neuroscience at the University of Oxford, affiliated with the Department of Physiology, Anatomy and Genetics (DPAG). She is a Fellow in Medical Sciences at Exeter College, where she tutors students in Biomedical Sciences and Pre-Clinical Medicine.
Her academic background includes a DPhil in Physiology from the University of Oxford (Brasenose College), an MSc in Neuroscience from Dalhousie University, and a BSc with Honors in Psychology and Mathematics from Memorial University.
The Walker Group investigates how auditory cortical neurons encode sound features like pitch, location, spectral characteristics, and temporal properties. Her research spans neurophysiological experiments (extracellular recording, 2-photon calcium imaging), psychophysical studies, and computational modeling of auditory systems.
Recent publications highlight her work on auditory training effects, diurnal vocalization patterns in hamsters, cortical adaptation to reverberation, and cross-species pitch perception mechanisms. These studies reflect her expertise in auditory neuroscience, neural coding, and computational auditory models.
Dr. Walker serves as a Reviewing Editor for the Journal of Neuroscience and contributes to graduate and undergraduate education through lectures in Biomedical Science, Pre-Clinical Medicine, Human Sciences, and MSc Neuroscience.
