Kerry McGonigal is a faculty member at Bob Jones University (BJU) within the School of Theology and Global Leadership. He has taught expository preaching and related subjects for 20 years, emphasizing faithful biblical interpretation and effective communication. His doctoral research focused on Peter’s rhetorical strategies in 1 Peter, contributing to his expertise in hermeneutics and homiletics.
McGonigal holds a Doctor of Ministry (DMin) and a Master of Divinity (MDiv) from BJU, alongside a BS in English Education from the same institution. He is actively involved in coordinating the annual High School Preaching and Teaching Conference, aimed at training young men in sermon preparation and delivery.
His research and teaching span courses such as Applied Hermeneutics for Preaching & Teaching, Ecclesiology, New Testament Literature & Interpretation, and Creation to New Creation: Exploring the Bible for Life. McGonigal’s work integrates rhetorical analysis with apostolic purpose, reflecting his commitment to practical biblical application.
Beyond academia, he serves in itinerant ministry domestically and internationally and has been a pastor in Greenville, SC, for over a decade. He blogs regularly at Preaching & Preachers, sharing insights on preaching and theological education.
