Dr Kerry Hall, a proud descendant of the Kuku Thaypan, Kuku Warra, and Lama Lama Peoples of Cape York Peninsula, is a faculty member at Griffith University. She currently serves as Interim Lead (Learning and Teaching) with the Office of the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Indigenous. Notably, she was the first hospital-trained Aboriginal enrolled nurse to earn a PhD, marking a significant achievement in Indigenous health academia.
Her educational journey is non-traditional; without an undergraduate degree, she entered a Master of Philosophy based on professional experience and merit, later completing a PhD that investigated acute respiratory illness in urban Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children under five years of age.
Research Interests:

Dr Hall is currently involved in two key research projects: ACTMed, which aims to improve patient care by enhancing pharmacist-general practitioner collaboration using IT and incentives, and the cultural adaptation of the Growin’ Up Healthy Jarjums project, an mHealth initiative supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander mothers and children. Her research is deeply community-driven and centers on ethical, collaborative practices that prioritize Indigenous voices.
She advises emerging researchers to pursue areas that ignite passion and curiosity, seek supportive mentors, and build collaborative networks. Her work contributes directly to sustainable development goals, particularly in health and equity.
