Kerry Banazek is a faculty member at New Mexico State University's Department of English, where she teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in rhetoric, technical communication, and digital media. She currently serves as Director of the University Writing Program (2019-2021) and collaborates with the Creative Research Center to expand student podcasting resources.

Her research explores intersections of rhetoric, visual culture, and technology, focusing on how technologies of vision (e.g., drones, algorithms) shape language and embodiment. She employs frameworks from Disability Studies, Critical Race Theory, and science studies to analyze representation across media, particularly examining how marginalized identities navigate digital and material landscapes.
Recent publications include the poetry collection You, Siphon (2020), which engages with pandemic realities and bodily autonomy, and 2019-2018 articles on geopoetics and ethical materialist composition. Her work has been recognized with the Brigham Award for Women Writers. She also contributes to digital pedagogy initiatives and interdisciplinary collaborations in technical communication.
