Kerri Thom is a Professor in the Department of Epidemiology & Public Health at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, with a secondary appointment in Medicine. She serves as the Associate Dean for Student Affairs and directs the Office of Student Research, actively contributing to curriculum development and medical student education.
Her research focuses on infection prevention, antimicrobial resistance, and epidemiology of multidrug-resistant pathogens like Acinetobacter baumannii in healthcare settings. She investigates strategies for infection control and antimicrobial stewardship to reduce nosocomial transmission.
