Kerri Alderson is an Associate Professor at Mount Royal University's School of Nursing & Midwifery, part of the Health, Community & Education faculty. She holds a Master of Nursing (MN) from the University of Calgary and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) from the University of Alberta. Her career includes roles as a medical nurse in Canada and the U.S., and she transitioned to academia as a full-time faculty member in 2006 after part-time teaching.
Her research focuses on innovative teaching methods such as games-based learning and simulation, alongside clinical nursing education. She has designed a family board game to support children with chronic conditions, published in the Journal of Pediatric Nursing (2017). Her teaching spans courses like Health Promotion with Individuals I and Adult Health, integrating simulation as a key pedagogical tool.
Award recognition includes a 2019 nomination for the CARNA Award of Nursing Excellence in Education. Kerri actively contributes to academic governance through roles such as Chair of the Student Award Committee and membership in the Simulation Committee. Her professional service emphasizes fostering student success and advancing nursing education practices.
