Kenzie Gordon is a PhD Candidate in Media & Cultural Studies and the Digital Humanities at the University of Alberta, where she serves as an Assistant Lecturer in the Faculty of Arts - Media Tech Studies department. She holds an MA, BSW, and BA (Honours), and teaches courses on critical game studies, game design, and the Digital Humanities Practicum (DH 900).
Her research focuses on the intersections of gender-based violence and video games, equity issues in game education and the industry, and applications of technology for social good. As a settler scholar on Treaty 6 Territory in amiskwaciy-wâskahikan (Edmonton, Alberta, Canada), her work is deeply informed by social justice perspectives and Indigenous land acknowledgment.
Kenzie is actively involved in several significant projects:
- Project Manager for The First Three Years
- Project Lead for the YEG Police Violence Archive
- Creator of games, apps, and other digital media under her imprint grey fox media
Her teaching practice emphasizes hands-on learning through the Digital Humanities Practicum, which serves as a capstone experience for students in the MA in Digital Humanities program, providing them with experience working on large-scale digital projects under faculty guidance.
