Kenneth Wm. Thornicroft is a Professor of Law & Employment Relations at the University of Victoria’s Peter B. Gustavson School of Business. He holds a JD/LLB from the University of British Columbia (1979) and a PhD in Labour and Human Resource Policy/Employment Law from Case Western Reserve University (1996). His expertise spans arbitration, employment law, and labour relations. He has served as a third-party neutral in thousands of disputes, specializing in employment, commercial, and franchise conflicts. Thornicroft is a former member of several B.C. tribunals and currently serves on the B.C. Employment Standards Tribunal and the Ministry of Education Student Appeals Branch.
His research focuses on employment contracts, Charter rights, and workplace disputes. Notable publications include Employment Obligations and Confidential Information (LexisNexis) and Canadian Business Law: A British Columbia Perspective (Emond Publishing). He teaches courses such as Employment Law, Legal Issues in Management, and Labour Relations in Professional Sports. Thornicroft has received multiple teaching awards, including six “Professor of the Year” recognitions, and holds leadership roles in legal organizations like the Canadian Industrial Relations Association.
