Kenneth J. Ernandes

Kenneth J. Ernandes is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Aerospace, Physics and Space Sciences at the College of Engineering and Science, Florida Institute of Technology. He is also an Aerospace Engineer at L3Harris Technologies, bringing extensive industry and military space operations experience to his academic role.

Mr. Ernandes specializes in Space Flight Dynamics and Orbital Mechanics, with deep expertise in Kalman filtering and satellite systems. His research interests span hyperspectral imaging calibration, space-based vessel tracking via AIS signals, and NASA safety-compliant hardware development for human-rated missions. He has contributed to critical space programs including NAVSTAR GPS and the GOES-R meteorological satellite series.

His current work focuses on amateur radio systems for space exploration, particularly through the ARISS IORS and Amateur Radio Exploration (AREx) teams, where he supports the development of communication systems for the International Space Station and the Lunar Gateway.
