Dr. Kenneth De Baets is a Professor of Evolutionary Paleobiology at the University of Warsaw’s Faculty of Biology, leading the PARADIVE research team. His work focuses on macroecology, biotic interactions, and biomineralization, particularly exploring how climate and parasitism influence evolutionary and ecological patterns. He holds a PhD from the University of Zurich (2012) and has held positions at the University of Bristol and Friedrich-Alexander-University Erlangen-Nürnberg. His research integrates fossil records with molecular biology and quantitative methods to study marine invertebrate diversity, parasite-host dynamics, and environmental change impacts. Key projects include the IDUB-funded PARADIVE initiative and DFG grant on hyperthermal event effects. He advises students on topics like body size dynamics, experimental taphonomy, and geometric morphometrics. His lab, Macropal, emphasizes interdisciplinary approaches to understand biodiversity and Earth system interactions.
