Kenneth Charles Abbott is a Lecturer in the Department of Law at Zicklin School of Business, Baruch College (CUNY). He previously served as America’s Chief Risk Officer at Barclays Bank until 2018 and spent nine years as Chief Operating Officer for Firm Risk at Morgan Stanley. His expertise spans risk management, financial regulation, and market dynamics, informed by 14 years at Bankers Trust and senior roles at Bank of America.
- Education: B.A. in Economics (Harvard University), M.A. in Economics, and M.S. in Statistics and Operations Research (New York University).
Abbott’s research focuses on financial risk management, including commodity pricing models and regulatory frameworks. His publications analyze wheat price fluctuations, crude oil market correlations, and risk methodologies. He has taught courses like The Regulation of Financial Ma and Market & Credit Risk Management, emphasizing practical applications in finance and law.
Abbott received Zicklin’s Outstanding Teacher Award (2021) and was recognized for mentoring Baruch MFE graduates (2012). He serves on the boards of the New Jersey Scholars Program, Harvard Club of New Jersey, and CGU’s Financial Engineering Program as Senior Fellow.
His professional service includes roles in organizations like SIFMA, American Corporate Partners, and Grameen Foundation. Academically, he contributes to curriculum development as a committee member for Zicklin’s MBA and Honors Thesis programs.
