Kenichi Endo

Dr. Kenichi Endo is a Junior Professor (Assistant Professor equivalent) at the University of Stuttgart's Institute of Polymer Chemistry within the Faculty of Chemistry. Appointed in May 2025, he leads the Endo Group focused on Catalysis in Confined Geometries as a Principal Investigator in the CRC 1333. His academic journey spans both Japan and Germany, reflecting his international research profile.

Dr. Endo's educational background includes a PhD (2020) and Master's degree (2017) from the University of Tokyo, where he worked under Prof. Mitsuhiko Shionoya on chiral metal complexes for asymmetric catalysis. His research expertise bridges coordination chemistry, materials science, and sustainable energy technologies.

His research focuses on the synthesis of novel metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) and covalent organic frameworks (COFs) with applications in gas sorption and catalysis. Recent work has pioneered 'MOCOFs' - hybrid frameworks combining MOF and COF characteristics - with applications in electrocatalytic CO2 reduction. His publication record demonstrates consistent productivity in high-impact journals including Nature Synthesis, Nature Communications, and Journal of the American Chemical Society.

Dr. Endo has received significant recognition including the Humboldt Research Fellowship and the Springer Thesis Award (2021). His current research is supported by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation and the Collaborative Research Center 1333 at the University of Stuttgart.
