Ken Zupan is a Senior Lecturer at Simon Fraser University's School of Interactive Arts & Technology, specializing in industrial design education. With full-time teaching duties since 2007, his instructional portfolio spans foundational courses in visual communication, materials, and spatial design.
His research explores additive manufacturing applications in assistive devices for disabled and elderly populations, developed during sabbatical at BCIT's MAKE+ Lab. Zupan investigates how physical prototyping skills enhance student design outcomes, supported by a teaching innovation grant analyzing material experimentation pedagogy.
He actively promotes design education through public engagement with 3D printing technology and maintains professional practice at the intersection of digital fabrication and accessibility solutions.
