Ken Fedorka is a Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Central Florida (UCF). His research spans evolutionary genetics, eco-immunology, and disease ecology, focusing on how environmental stressors and genetic systems shape biological evolution.
- Education: Ph.D. in Ecology, Evolution and Organismal Biology (2002, University of South Carolina); B.S. in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology (1994, University of Pittsburgh).
- Research Interests: Eco-immunology, disease ecology, sexual conflict, Y-chromosome evolution, and climate change impacts on insects.
Recent work highlights climate change effects on monarch butterfly migration, honey bee viral dynamics, and agrochemical impacts on mosquito immunity. His lab also investigates Y-chromosomes' counterintuitive roles in adaptive evolution and sexual dimorphism. Publications reveal a thematic focus on genetic constraints, environmental stressors, and life history trade-offs across insects like Drosophila and crickets. The lab actively engages with graduate students and community beekeepers to address pollinator health.
