Kelton Norris is a faculty member at Shepherd University's School of Music, specializing in jazz performance and education. With roots in rural Mississippi and formal training from the University of Southern Mississippi (Music Education) and Northern Illinois University (Master's in Jazz Performance), Norris is recognized for his rhythmic precision and performance expertise. He has performed with notable artists like Joan Rivers, Cyrus Chestnut, and Thad Wilson, at venues such as Chicago’s Jazz Showcase and the Kennedy Center’s Millennium Stage.
His teaching extends beyond Shepherd University to private studios at Sidwell Friends School, Holy Trinity Episcopal School, and School of Rock. Norris was honored as Best Drummer by Washington City Paper in 2016, highlighting his contributions to jazz. Based in the DC metropolitan area, he remains active in the regional music scene.
