Kelsey Witt Dillon is an Assistant Professor at Clemson University, affiliated with the Department of Genetics and Biochemistry and the Center for Human Genetics. She holds a Ph.D. in Evolutionary Biology from the University of Illinois (2017) and a B.S. in Genetics from Texas A&M University (2012). Her postdoctoral research included positions at the University of California-Merced (Molecular and Cell Biology) and Brown University (Computational and Molecular Biology/ Ecology, Evolution, and Organismal Biology).
Her research focuses on computational population genomics to study human migration patterns, domestication histories, and interactions between modern and archaic humans. Key projects include analyzing dog genetics as proxies for human migration in the Americas, studying cattle domestication in East Asia, and investigating archaic human ancestry distribution in modern populations. The Witt Lab actively recruits undergraduates and postdocs to advance these studies.
Publications highlight themes in ancient DNA analysis, archaic variant distribution, and integrative archaeological-genetic methods. While no awards are explicitly listed, her work bridges evolutionary biology, anthropology, and computational genomics to address fundamental questions about human and domesticated species' histories.
