Kelsey Rydland is an Adjunct Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Northwestern University (Evanston, IL). Her research integrates geographic information systems (GIS) with public health and policy analysis to examine spatial inequalities in healthcare access, violence prevention, and community resource distribution.
Professor Rydland's work employs advanced spatial analysis to investigate neighborhood-level determinants of health outcomes, including studies on violence-related mortality, healthcare accessibility during the COVID-19 pandemic, and geographic disparities in trauma care systems. Her research methodology combines spatial epidemiology with policy evaluation to identify intervention opportunities.
Educational background includes a Ph.D. in Public Administration from University of Illinois at Chicago (2021), an M.A. in Political Science from Western Washington University (2005), and a B.A. in Environmental Policy from Western Washington University (2003).
