Kelly Grace Magalhães is an Assistant Professor and researcher at the University of Brasília, where she coordinates the Immunology and Inflammation Laboratory (LIMI) in the Department of Cell Biology. She holds accreditation in both the Postgraduate Program in Molecular Pathology and the Postgraduate Program in Molecular Biology at UnB.
Her academic background includes:
- Scientific training in Molecular Biology at the René Rachou Research Center - Fiocruz (2002)
- Master's degree in Cellular and Molecular Biology from the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (2005)
- Doctorate in Cellular and Molecular Biology from the Oswaldo Cruz Institute - Fiocruz with a sandwich doctorate from Harvard Medical School (2009)
Dr. Magalhães specializes in immunology, cell biology, and molecular biology, with particular focus on cellular and molecular mechanisms involved in inflammatory and immune responses in infectious diseases, obesity, and cancer. Her research integrates approaches from multiple biological disciplines to address complex health challenges through laboratory investigation.
She was awarded the prestigious Pew Latin American Fellowship in Biomedical Sciences in 2009 and completed her postdoctoral studies at Harvard Medical School from 2009 to 2011.
Her notable scientific recognition includes:
- Pew Latin American Fellowship in Biomedical Sciences
As a dedicated educator and research leader, she mentors graduate students in molecular biology and pathology programs while directing research activities at the Immunology and Inflammation Laboratory at the University of Brasília.
