Kelly Cavenaugh

Kelly Cavenaugh, PhD, MS, OTR-L is an Assistant Professor at Husson University within the School of Occupational Therapy, College of Health. With over 17 years of clinical experience in home health and outpatient settings, he has been a full-time faculty member since 2014. His expertise spans narrative medicine, ergonomics, and rehabilitation techniques such as LSVT BIG for Parkinson’s disease and Tai Chi for Health.

Education:

• Bachelor’s in English Literature (University of Southern Maine)
• Masters in Occupational Therapy (University of Southern Maine)
• PhD in Interdisciplinary Studies (University of Maine, concentration in Narrative Medicine)

Research Focus: Investigates how literary narratives influence empathy in occupational therapy students. He also explores the intersection of storytelling and healthcare education.

• Tai Chi for Rehabilitation Certification (Dr. Paul Lamb’s Institute)

Teaching: Instructs courses on Work and Industry, Upper Extremity Rehabilitation, Context & Environment, Wellness, and Human Occupation and Movement.
