Kelly Carlton

Kelly Carlton is the Chair and Professor of Motion Media Design at Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) since 2016. She holds an M.F.A. in Fine Arts from the University of Cincinnati and a B.A. in Art from Georgetown College. Her career spans academia and creative leadership, with roles including Visiting Professor at Elon University (2015) and Guest Lecturer at Otis College of Art and Design (2015). She also serves on Elon University’s School of Communication Advisory Board since 2002.

Her expertise lies in motion graphics for film and television, including trailer design, main title sequences, and corporate branding. Notable clients include Warner Bros., Disney, Paramount, and The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. As a Creative Director, she has managed teams of designers and led projects for major film campaigns like The Dark Knight, The Da Vinci Code, and Megamind.

Her creative work emphasizes storytelling through motion design, blending technical skills with creative execution. She has advised on curriculum development, software guidance, and portfolio assessments for students and faculty. Her industry experience includes leadership roles at studios like AV Squad, Trailer Park, and Deva Studios, where she expanded departments and pioneered new design trends.
