Keith Van de Riet

Keith Van de Riet is the Interim Chair and Associate Professor of Architecture at the University of Kansas (KU), where he has been since 2015. He holds a B.Arch from KU (2004) and a Ph.D. in Architectural Sciences from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (2012), specializing in Built Ecologies through a program co-hosted by The Center for Architecture, Science and Ecology and Skidmore, Owings and Merrill, LLP.

His research focuses on engineered-natural structures, environmental systems simulation, and coastal development that integrates ecological services with urbanization. Prior to KU, he taught and researched at Florida Atlantic University, emphasizing prototype testing and sustainable infrastructure. He is affiliated with the School of Architecture & Design at KU’s Marvin Hall in Lawrence, KS.
