Keith Koenig is a Professor in the Department of Aerospace Engineering at Mississippi State University, College of Engineering. He has been a faculty member since 1978 and is actively involved in teaching and research in aerodynamics, fluid mechanics, structural dynamics, and propulsion. Dr. Koenig's research focuses on compressible flows, supersonic aerodynamics, rocket propulsion, and sports engineering applications such as baseball bat performance. His work bridges theoretical fluid dynamics with practical engineering applications in aerospace and sports equipment design. He has developed educational software for compressible flow analysis and contributed to standards in athletic safety.
His publications from the early 1990s to 1997 show a strong trend in both fundamental gas dynamics and applied sports engineering. Key themes include supersonic conical flows, calorically imperfect gases, and biomechanical performance of sports equipment. His work often involves collaboration with colleagues and students, emphasizing engineering education and experimental validation.
