Kees van Dam

Kees van Dam is a Lecturer in Social Work at Avans University of Applied Sciences since 2013 and a researcher at the Centre of Expertise Perspective in Health since 2019, where he leads the Participatory Innovation in the Youth Landscape research group.

Van Dam's research centers on responsible AI implementation in youth care, emphasizing participatory design methods and ethical frameworks for AI systems. He investigates AI's societal impact on young people and develops youth engagement strategies for ethical AI development, integrating philosophy of technology principles with practical welfare sector applications.

Prior to academia, he served as an advisor at the Dutch Probation Service formulating court recommendations. Since 2018, he has connected technological innovations with social work education as a program leader, focusing on social technology applications in welfare systems.
