Kearney Gunsalus is an Associate Professor in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the Medical College of Georgia, Augusta University. Her academic roles include teaching multiple medical modules: Renal/Cardiopulmonary, GI/Endo/Repro, Musculoskeletal, Brain & Behavior, and Fundamentals. She holds a Ph.D. in Cell Biology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison (2021) and a B.A. in Biochemistry from Smith College (2006).
Her research spans:
- Medical education: Curriculum design and weight-stigma reduction
- Molecular microbiology: Host-pathogen interactions and antifungal strategies
- Science policy: Workforce development and data-driven career frameworks
