معرفی
Kayse Lee Maass is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering at Northeastern University, leading the Operations Research and Social Justice Lab. She also holds a research appointment at Mayo Clinic's Information and Decision Engineering Program. Her research focuses on applying operations research methodologies to address social justice issues, particularly in human trafficking, mental health, and humanitarian logistics. Dr. Maass’s work is supported by NSF grants and has influenced policy at local, national, and international levels, including contributions to the 2019 UN Report on Contemporary Forms of Slavery.
Education:
- PhD in Industrial and Operations Engineering, University of Michigan, Ann Arbor (2017)
- BA in Mathematics and Physics, Bethel University (2012)
Research Interests:
Dr. Maass advances stochastic optimization, network theory, and supply chain design to tackle equity challenges in human trafficking, mental health access, and housing justice. Her lab collaborates with survivor-informed stakeholders to develop practical solutions, such as optimizing shelter placements and disrupting trafficking networks through multi-agent models. Recent projects include NSF-funded initiatives to interdict labor trafficking in agriculture and enhance service provision for trafficking survivors.
Publications:
Her work spans academic journals and conferences, emphasizing interdisciplinary approaches to human trafficking interdiction, mental health systems optimization, and equitable resource allocation. Notable contributions include models for network disruption, survivor service accessibility, and policy-informed decision frameworks.
Awards & Recognition:
- NSF CAREER Award (2025)
- INFORMS Judith Liebman Award
- Industrial Engineering Professor of the Year (2020)
- NSF Graduate Research Fellowship
Grants & Labs:
Principal Investigator on NSF grants focused on multi-agent network interdiction and service provision models. Co-leads initiatives like 'Modeling Effective Network Disruptions for Human Trafficking' and 'Creating an Accessible ORMS Community for Disabled People.' The Operations Research & Social Justice Lab engages students in transdisciplinary projects addressing food justice, housing equity, and healthcare access.
