Kay Mathiesen is an Associate Professor at Northeastern University's College of Social Sciences and Humanities, specializing in the Department of Philosophy and Religion. She holds a Ph.D. in Philosophy from the University of California, Irvine, and focuses on ethical issues surrounding information, computer ethics, and justice.
Educated at the University of California, Irvine (Ph.D. in Philosophy), she integrates social epistemology, ethics, and political philosophy into her research. Her current book project, Informational Justice, explores the moral implications of information access, control, and marginalized participation in the digital public sphere.
Her work extends to debates on Fake News and Digital Privacy, emphasizing their societal impact. She is affiliated with Northeastern's Ethics Institute and teaches courses such as PHIL 5005: Information Ethics, which examines theories of justice and ethical frameworks like utilitarianism in information management.
