Kavita Khory is the Ruth Lawson Professor of Politics and Carol Hoffmann Collins Director of the McCulloch Center for Global Initiatives at Mount Holyoke College. She holds joint affiliations with the Department of Politics, Department of International Relations, Department of Asian Studies, and the McCulloch Center. A Mount Holyoke alumna (Class of 1984), she earned her Ph.D. and MA from the University of Illinois.
Her research integrates international relations and comparative politics, focusing on:
- Political violence and security dynamics in South Asia
- Nationalism, ethnic conflict (particularly in Pakistan)
- Transnational diaspora mobilization in North America/Europe
- Migration-security policy intersections
She received the Pew Faculty Fellowship in International Affairs at Harvard University's Kennedy School. Her curriculum development includes co-directing a Hewlett Foundation-funded initiative promoting case method teaching and creating an online course for the New York Times Knowledge Network.
As director of the McCulloch Center, she leads global education programs and previously served as Acting Director (2009–2010). She teaches courses on international security, ethnic conflict, propaganda, South Asian politics, and migration.
