Her work demonstrates expertise in developing frameworks for cross-sector collaboration between governments, technology platforms, and civil society to address the complex challenges of online content governance.
Vaughan holds significant leadership positions including Co-Chair of the Christchurch Call Advisory Network and membership in the Global Internet Forum to Counter Terrorism (GIFCT) Legal Frameworks Working Group, where she has contributed to international efforts to combat terrorist content online while protecting fundamental rights.
She actively supervises PhD students on topics including deepfakes and human rights accountability, cybersecurity standards, and bulk surveillance compliance with human rights law. Her grant portfolio includes ESRC Impact Accelerator funding for building inclusive multistakeholder networks and projects focused on student engagement barriers.
