Dr Katy Kerrane is a Lecturer in Marketing at the University of Liverpool Management School since 2017. She holds a PhD in Marketing from the Open University, alongside a BSc in Marketing and MA in Human Resource Management from Lancaster University. Her research focuses on consumer behavior within family contexts, particularly examining South Asian mothers' experiences, grandfathers' roles in consumer socialization, and family responses to uncertainty like Brexit and COVID-19. She teaches modules such as Consumer Behavior (ULMS795) and Fundamentals of Marketing (MKIB153), serving as module coordinator for both.
Dr Kerrane is an active member of professional bodies including the Academy of Marketing and Association for Consumer Research. She currently serves as Early Career Researcher Representative (2023–2025) at her institution and has contributed to media discussions on family preparedness during crises. Her work has been published in journals like European Journal of Marketing and Sociology, with recent focus on generational shifts in parenting and cultural identity.
Her research methodologies emphasize interpretive and qualitative approaches, addressing themes such as gender identity, ethnicity, and migration. She collaborates on multidisciplinary projects and welcomes PhD supervision in these areas.
