Katy Callaghan (Researcher) is affiliated with the Warnell School of Forestry and Natural Resources at the University of Georgia. She coordinates ongoing projects in the Aquatic Toxiciology Lab and contributes to Vacuolar Myelinopathy (VM) Research under Dr. Susan Wilde.
- Bachelor’s and Master’s in Fisheries and Wildlife, Wildlife Management from the University of Georgia
- Experience in wildlife damage management, human-wildlife conflict, and terrestrial disease investigation
- Specialized in trapping and lethal control of mesocarnivores and non-native wildlife species
Her research focuses on neurologic effects of Aetokthonotoxin (AETX) on vertebrate brains and the distribution of parasite species in wild pig populations via collaborations with USDA and SCWDS.
She has worked full-time as a necropsy technician at SCWDS and held field technician roles at state and federal levels.
