Leibniz Institute for Agricultural Engineering and Bioeconomyمعرفی
Katrin Drastig is a senior researcher at the Leibniz Institute for Agricultural Engineering and Bioeconomy (ATB) in Potsdam, Germany, where she leads the AgroHyd working group on agricultural water productivity. She holds a Habilitation in Crop Science from Humboldt University Berlin (2018) and has been with ATB since 2009, bridging agricultural engineering, hydrology, and climate adaptation.
- Key Projects: AgroHyd-X (weather radar for precision irrigation), WED (dairy farm water management), BfN-Agrartech (biodiversity-friendly farming), ALCIS (low-cost sensor networks), and WFP (water footprint of livestock)
- Standards Leadership: Contributed to ISO 14002-2 environmental management guidelines and serves on the DWA Soilwater Management committee
Her research focuses on water productivity in agriculture, nutrient balance optimization, and climate change adaptation, with fieldwork spanning Germany and Brazil. Current work integrates X-band radar monitoring and drought resilience strategies for crops. She advises on agro-environmental policy and chairs the FAO LEAP Water Footprint expert group, contributing to global livestock water assessment frameworks.
