معرفی
Katrin Amann-Winkel is a faculty member at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz, employed as a Junior Professor (mapped to Assistant Professor per guidelines) since October 2021, supported by the Carl Zeiss Foundation. She also leads a group at the Max Planck Institute for Polymer Research. Her academic journey includes postdoctoral research at the University of Innsbruck (2009–2014) as an FWF-Hertha-Firnberg fellow and a researcher position at Stockholm University (2014–2018), where she led an independent group funded by Ragnar-Söderbergs-Stiftelse.
Research Interests: Fundamental studies of water and its hydrogen-bonded network under extreme conditions (very low temperatures, high pressures, confined geometries). Key focus areas include amorphous ices, supercooled water, and interactions with soft matter systems. Her work combines experimental techniques like X-ray scattering with large-scale facilities such as synchrotrons and XFELs to explore structural dynamics and phase transitions.
Scientific Awards:
- Fritz Kohlrausch Award from the Austrian Physical Society (ÖPG)
- FWF-Hertha-Firnberg Fellowship at the University of Innsbruck
Recent Publications highlight the liquid-liquid transition in supercooled water, electron-beam-induced transformations in ices, and structural dynamics of amorphous materials. Her experimental approaches span powder diffractometers, SAXS setups, and high-pressure studies at synchrotron facilities.
