Katja Schiebler is Professor for Daylight and Artificial Lighting Planning at the Peter Behrens School of Arts, Hochschule Düsseldorf (University of Applied Sciences). She has held this position since January 2020, following guest lectureships at the same institution and HAWK Hildesheim.
Her research spans the physiological/biological and psychological effects of light, optical perception, spectra, and lighting technology fundamentals. Professor Schiebler specializes in daylight planning (side and skylight openings) and artificial lighting systems, with particular focus on how lighting design supports learning processes and educational environments.
Analysis of her publications reveals a strong emphasis on educational architecture and school lighting design, with significant contributions to understanding light's impact on learning environments. Professor Schiebler combines academic work with professional practice as a partner at Andres + Partner (formerly Peter Andres), where she has been involved since 2014. She teaches in the Architecture & Design department, developing comprehensive lighting concepts that integrate scientific understanding with practical design solutions for both Bachelor's and Master's students.
