Katja Mehlhorn is a Lecturer and coordinator of the AI learning communities program at the Department of Artificial Intelligence, Faculty of Science and Engineering, University of Groningen. She teaches courses such as Introduction to Artificial Intelligence, Basic Scientific Skills, and Introduction to the Brain, often delivered through innovative learning-community settings.
Education:

- PhD in Cognitive Modeling from Chemnitz University of Technology
Her research focuses on how memory processes influence hypothesis generation and decision-making, using behavioral experiments and cognitive models. She has organized academic events like the Groningen Spring School on Cognitive Modeling and the International Conference on Cognitive Modeling.
She combines her academic expertise with extensive work in therapeutic horse riding and equine-assisted workshops. These include kinderlessen, ponykampen, and collaborations with methods like the Masterson Method and Horse Boy Method. Her unique approach integrates cognitive psychology principles into equine education and therapy.
