Katja Fall is a Professor at the Department of Medical Sciences, School of Medical Sciences, Örebro University. Her research focuses on cancer epidemiology, particularly prostate cancer progression and its links to psychological stress and inflammation. She is affiliated with the Nutrition-Gut-Brain Interactions Research Centre (NGBI) and collaborates with institutions including Karolinska Institutet, University of Iceland, and Harvard University. Her work is supported by grants from Örebro University Strategic Funds, FORTE, and the Swedish Cancer Society.
Research interests include determinants of cancer occurrence, gene expression studies, and population-level assessments of disease characteristics. She leads projects such as the Prostate Cancer Stress Surveillance and Survival (ProSeSS) initiative and investigates adrenergic signaling in cancer progression. Key collaborations involve multidisciplinary teams exploring life-course perspectives on cancer risk.
Recent publications span topics like anti-inflammatory diets and renal cancer risk, bereavement's impact on childhood diabetes, and SARS-CoV-2's link to demyelinating diseases. Her work emphasizes translational epidemiology, integrating clinical and population data to inform cancer prevention and patient care.
