Katie McCance

Katie McCance is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies at the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA), affiliated with the College of Education and Human Development (COEHD). Her work focuses on STEM pedagogies, equity for historically marginalized students, and institutional structures that enhance STEM outcomes.

• Ph.D. and Master of Education in STEM Education from North Carolina State University
• Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from Southwestern University

Her research examines:

• Institutional support for STEM student success at Hispanic-Serving Institutions
• Outcomes of interdisciplinary STEM collaborations in higher education
• Professional development programs for STEM graduate students and teaching assistants

She has secured funding from prestigious organizations including the National Science Foundation (NSF), United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), and Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI), and has presented her findings at major conferences such as ASHE, AERA, NARST, and ASEE.
