Katie Langan serves as Interim Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of the Faculty at Marymount Manhattan College, where she also holds teaching and artistic roles within the Department of Dance. Previously, she chaired both the Fine & Performing Arts Division and the Department of Dance for over twenty years, leading the department to a top-ten national ranking.
Her research focuses on dance pedagogy and choreographic innovation, particularly in ballet and contemporary dance. Langan explores the integration of modern dance techniques into ballet training, the development of professional pathways for dancers, and the evolution of contemporary ballet aesthetics. Her work bridges studio practice with academic frameworks, emphasizing practical skill development for stage performance.
Langan's publications in Dancer Magazine examine critical transitions in dance education and contemporary ballet training methodologies. These works highlight her expertise in curriculum design and her commitment to advancing dance pedagogy through empirical observation of student development.

As former Department Chair, Langan cultivated the MMC Dance Advisory Board (18 members) to secure scholarship funding and guest artist opportunities. She continues to mentor through master classes and industry panels while directing performance series that showcase emerging choreographic talent.
Langan directs the Dance Department's semi-annual performance series, collaborating with renowned choreographers and maintaining the MMC Dance Advisory Board's scholarship initiatives. Her creative residency feedback work with The Joyce Theater connects academic training with professional development opportunities for students.
