Kathy Nagle is an Associate Teaching Professor and Assistant Dean for Undergraduate Academic Advising at the Illinois Institute of Technology College of Architecture. She has over 25 years of experience in the Bachelor of Architecture program, focusing on first-year design pedagogy and curriculum development. Her roles include coordinating first-year studios and overseeing academic advising, which she views as an extension of her educational philosophy.
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Art History from Williams College
- Master of Architecture from Harvard University’s Graduate School of Design
Her research interests revolve around Chicago architectural history and design education. She has contributed to the AIA Guide to Chicago and co-authored papers for NCBDS Beginning Design conferences. Her teaching excellence was recognized through awards such as the AIA Education Honor Award and the IIT Excellence in Teaching Award (2009).
She currently teaches courses like ARCH 100 (Introduction to Architecture) and first-year studios (ARCH 113/114). Her advising role emphasizes supporting students’ academic trajectories, reflecting her commitment to fostering architectural education.
