Professor Kathy Laster is the Director of the Sir Zelman Cowen Centre at Victoria University, leading initiatives in law, cultural diversity, and justice system innovation. She holds a Professorial rank with expertise in criminology, legal history, and gender/multiculturalism in law. Her work focuses on improving access to justice and reforming penal systems. Previously, she held roles at Monash University and in public policy, including leadership in non-profits like the Victoria Law Foundation and AMES. She advocates for alternatives to imprisonment, such as electronic monitoring, and has published extensively on criminal justice policy.
