Kathy Huen

Dr. Kathy Huen, MD, MPH is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Urology at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, specializing in Pediatric Urology. She also serves as the Senior Quality Officer for UCLA Health and the Quality Officer for the Department of Urology.

Dr. Huen earned her undergraduate degree from Brown University, her medical degree from Emory University School of Medicine, completed her urology residency at UCLA, and her pediatric urology fellowship at Children's Hospital of Orange County/UC Irvine. She also holds a Master of Public Health in Health Policy and Management from UCLA.

Her clinical expertise encompasses the full spectrum of pediatric urologic conditions including hydronephrosis, vesicoureteral reflux, spina bifida, hypospadias, undescended testes, and differences in sex development. She has a particular focus on minimally invasive genital and urinary reconstruction.

Dr. Huen's research interests center on improving care for adolescents and young adults with congenital genitourinary conditions. Her extensive publication record reveals several key research themes: spina bifida care transitions, innovative hypospadias repair techniques, neurogenic bladder management strategies, and critical analysis of healthcare quality metrics. Her work consistently integrates health policy, social determinants of health, and quality improvement methodologies to address systemic vulnerabilities in healthcare delivery.
