Kathryne M. Young is an Associate Professor of Law at George Washington University Law School. She holds a BA, JD, PhD from Stanford University, and an MFA from Oregon State University. Her research focuses on legal consciousness, access to justice, and criminal law, with a particular emphasis on how individuals interact with legal systems. She has been cited by the U.S. Supreme Court and Washington State Supreme Court, and her book How to Be Sort of Happy in Law School is an Amazon bestseller.
- Former tenured Sociology Professor at University of Massachusetts, Amherst (winner of Distinguished Teaching Award).
- Current roles include Secretary of the Law and Society Association and Visiting Scholar at the Russell Sage Foundation.
- Teaches Evidence, Criminal Law, and developing a course on the sociology of law.
