Kathryn Strickland

Kathryn Strickland is an Associate Professor of Music and Director of Athletic Bands at Northwest Missouri State University’s School of Fine and Performing Arts. She joined the faculty in 2013 and served as school chair from 2017–2022.

• Education: Ph.D. in Music Education (Louisiana State University), Master of Music Education (LSU), Bachelor of Music Education (LSU)

Her research focuses on instrumental intonation pedagogy, lifelong music participation, auditory health for wind/percussion players, and innovative teaching methods for percussionists. She also explores ensemble sight-reading strategies and student motivation.

Professional achievements: Dr. Strickland has presented at NAfME Biennial Conferences and received prestigious awards for teaching excellence. She serves as a guest conductor, adjudicator, and clinician for bands nationwide.
