Kathryn Mitchell Pierce, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor in the Department of Educational Studies at Saint Louis University’s School of Education. Her academic journey includes roles as Assistant Professor (2015–2022) and adjunct/adjunct positions at institutions like the University of Missouri-St. Louis and Webster University. She holds a Ph.D. in Reading and Language Education from Indiana University (1986), an M.A. in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Missouri-Columbia (1982), and a B.A. in Elementary Education from Stephens College (1978).
Her research focuses on Classroom Talk, Disciplinary Literacy Assessment, and Professional Learning Communities. Notable works include Going Public with Assessment (2018) and contributions to Talking about Books (1998).
