Kathryn Ludwig is an Assistant Teaching Professor of English at Ball State University's Department of English, part of the College of Sciences and Humanities. She specializes in contemporary American literature and the intersection of religion and literature, with a focus on postsecular themes and Jewish philosophy.
Her academic background includes a PhD in English from Purdue University (2010), an MA in Humanities from the University of Chicago (2001), and a BA in English and Communications from Purdue University (1998). Prior to her current role, she held positions such as Visiting Instructor at Indiana Wesleyan University (2013–2017) and Editorial Assistant at Elsevier Publications (2005–2007).
Her research explores how religious thought influences contemporary literature, particularly examining authors like Marilynne Robinson, Don DeLillo, and E.L. Doctorow. She is an active member of the American Religion and Literature Society and has published works analyzing postsecularism, prophetic sensibilities, and spiritual dimensions in modern narratives.
Publications include articles in Modern Fiction Studies, Humanities, and Religion and Literature. Her scholarship critiques traditional secular frameworks, advocating for interdisciplinary engagement with religious discourse in literary analysis.
