Kathryn Grace

Kathryn Grace is a Full Professor in the Department of Geography, Environment & Society at the University of Minnesota. Her research focuses on climate change impacts, food security, and child health in developing regions. She holds a PhD in Geography from the University of California, Santa Barbara (2008), an MA in Statistics (UCSB, 2006), an MSPH in Biostatistics (Tulane, 2004), and a BA in Theoretical Mathematics (UC Berkeley, 2002).

Her interdisciplinary work integrates climatic, demographic, and socio-economic data to address global challenges. Key projects include MERIAM (predicting undernutrition in climate-conflict zones), the Climate Hazards Center (early warning systems for vulnerable populations), and IPUMS PMA (harmonizing health data in developing countries). She advises PhD students such as Grace Cooper and Ruthie Burrows.

Research interests span climate justice, child nutrition, agricultural resilience, and urbanization impacts. Her recent work examines how climate extremes influence fertility, child health, and migration patterns. She collaborates with institutions like USAID, Johns Hopkins University, and the University of Maryland.
